BUSY ON WEDNESDAY

Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a super day. I have been rather busy today and my energy levels are running a bit low this evening but I wanted to share today’s finish with you. As you know I have been working on Christmas lately. So, here’s a finish Christmas cushion. You will have to excuse the poor quality of the photo as the light was not very good today but you will get the gist of what I did.

As per usual, I kept my design simple. I’m very pleased with my effort because I used fabrics from my stash. I have another quilt identical in almost every way except that today’s effort was hand quilted and the other version is machine quilted. I look forward to turning the second quilt top into another cushion cover. I must admit that I’m not a great fan of Christmas projects, I would prefer to do seasonal projects such as spring or autumn.

Before heading out for my volunteer day I rotary cut some Dresden Blade. I’ve been planning another long-term project for a while. And so, I finally kicked it off today. I can’t wait to see this one come to fruition.

So, it’s been a pretty busy day in my little world. I got a little bit done before leaving the house and tried to the best of my ability to be useful at my volunteer afternoon. Now I think I deserve to put my feet up and perhaps do a little work on my hexagon project.

Well, I guess that’s my report for today. I’m a little late posting today. I guess it’s better late than never. I hope you all have a super cosy evening. Until next time,

Let’s all keep on stitching.

  1. Hi Lucie, very warm here today. Never an average anything…LOL. So. The cushion cover is very nice, and the back was interesting to me….so, if Christmas does not do it for you, then imagine different tree shapes, trees of England!!! ha ha. Fall, Spring colors work well with that. Just the back was nice for me. You know? Little abstractions on plain backgrounds. Anyway, waiting to see the new long project…good luck.
    Have a nice evening.

    1. Hi Joanna, you’re right of course. My cushion cover could contain anything autumnal or springlike however Christmas was on my To-do List this time around. I like to add a little interest to the back envelope of my cushion. I think it’s a nice touch. At least one of my cushion covers will be a present to someone for Christmas so I thought I’d make the back interesting as well as the front. As you say no average here with the weather either. It’s cold and dull again. Thanks for popping in x

  2. Your cushion is love Lucie & I recall way back when I first started following your blog, some cushions that had similar backs & I thought how “cool” they were & love how you’ve resurrected that idea. Look forward to seeing what happens with your dresden plates. Thanks for sharing & take care.

    1. Hi Susan, I don’t make many cushion covers but when I do I like to make the back envelope a little interesting especially that at least one of the cushions will probably be a present to someone. I hope you’re keeping busy and out of mischief. Thanks for popping in x

  3. I love the Christmas cushion and the buttons! I spent a couple of hours tonight sorting buttons! Why is it that we all keep a tin of buttons, but so infrequently use them?? I enjoy watching your designs come together, and seeing what you are doing.

    1. You know Mary, that a very good question about collecting buttons. I remember playing with my mother’s button collection for hours at a time when I was a child!!! It was great fun. I remember my Sarah doing the same. Thanks for popping in today x

    2. Dear stitchinggrandma, my Mam had a box or tin of buttons. Just in case you needed to replace one, which we never did of course, ha ha. Curious, is it a British habit, do you think? The habit of mending? have a good day.

      1. Hi Joanna, Stitching grandma lives in US. It seems that button collections are a common thing all over the world. Isn’t it amazing how crafts, be it sewing , knitting, painting, art journal in brings people together from all over the world x

  4. Yes, it is. We have more in common than not. Thankfully something still exists to bring us closer together. I find Women are clearer about these things, yes? Women speak through their art, whether it be any of the areas you mentioned or by passing these things on to help heal, or to pass on a message. One day I would like to share a story about this. I know you would love it. Bless Maisie girl, luck to Sarah and go pull some weeds! ha ha

    1. Yes it us my own design. I kept it simple and totally achievable for any skill level and it brought me inspiration for another project which I will post about in the near future. Thanks for popping x
