Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all enjoyed a super first day of August. It’s been lovely in my little world.
I have a little progress report on a long standing UFO. If you’ve been reading me for a long time you may remember a little challenge I started several years ago called “A” is for Appliqué. My version consisted of 12 appliqué blocks which I eventually finished piecing but which were put away until recently when I decided to join all the blocks together. It then sat for a long time before I gathered the courage to longarm quilt it. I changed the name to something shorter along the way to The Joanna Quilt. Here are a few progress photos of what I’ve stitched so far …..
I decided that this one would be all freemotion quilted using simple designs. It’s a bit funky and I have fallen in love with it because it’s a little bit quirky. It’s cheerful and the different blocks and the quilting draw your eye around the to the next surprise. I am really looking forward to getting the quilting done so I can take it all in in one go. It’s difficult to see the whole quilt when it’s loaded in my longarm. I have one or two other UFO quilt tops that need to be quilted. Perhaps I’ll be able to finish a couple more this summer.
So that’s my report for today. I have really enjoyed working on my “A” is for Appliqué quilt. It’s very satisfying seeing a project thru from start to finish. I hope to post photos of the finished result soon. I hope you all have a super cosy evening doing something you truly enjoy doing. Until next time,
Let’s all keep on stitching.
Lucie x
That is a very beautiful quilt Lucie. You can be really proud of it.
It’s a good feeling when we finish what we started!
Enjoy your afternoon,

Well….what to say. I never thought it would look like this. I should have known better by now but all the same..every photo, every square, each one is so different, this one pops up, roses for clouds, each border changes, some are puffier, what a beauty. The heart courant. Did you ever??? Time shows what you can do, to every season, eh Lucie? to every season…
I am quite simply….touched. Just never imagined . Keep it for Sarah? Show it at the Quilt thingy coming up…show your work.

Oh Lucie, that’s looking so good & nothing wrong with funky & quirky quilting. Bit like me, as I do different according to other people. It turns into a fun way & when you see the whole quilt in one go, it always looks good, and as they say, “the quilting makes the quilt”. Now I think I need to design a medallion to place my one and only A is for applique block in the middle, as I just never kept up with it, although I did draw up a few more blocks. You’ve inspired me once again to hopefully finish another UFO, but that will have to wait till we get back from Qld. Have a lovely time at the Festival of Quilts and take care.
