DAY 23 MESSING AROUND CHALLENGE

Hello my lovelies. I hope you’re all happy and being creative. Creating is the one thing that is helping me cope with being in lockdown.

So, it’s already day 23 of my self-imposed messing around with art supplies challenge. I can’t believe how quickly April is whizzing by. I started working with a To-Do List but just couldn’t stick to the tasks on the list. So, I have graduated to doing whatever needs doing as and when needed. Today I planned on watering my outside plants if required, doing a bit of laundry, some cooking and of course some art journaling. One or two things might creep into the mix also.

So, for my art journaling effort today …..

Beach Hut

This is wallpaper beach hut. Simple. I used loads of pen dots to highlight the stencilled swirls. The dots are easy to produce and bring some interest to the piece. I’m not an art critic. I know nothing about art. My style seems to be turning a bit grungy nowadays. I seem to have stepped away from the accurate straight lines and perfect circles. I just mess around with anything I have at hand. And I post my efforts here just to show you that if I can do this anyone can.

It’s day 23. That means that I only have one week to go to be able to say that I met my challenge. I cannot believe that I’ve gone this far. In the beginning I wasn’t enjoying it but once I relaxed it became fun. I think I will carry on art journaling after the challenge is over but not as a challenge. I’m going to choose my next Pink Pig sketchbook which will be a larger format and I will start gathering ideas and papers to use etc. The next art journal might record something that happened on any given day.

Most of you who live in the UK will know that a new series of The Great British Sewing Bee started last evening. I stayed awake through most of the episode. While watching last night’s episode Sarah sent me this photo taken this time last year …..

Patrick Grant

You never know you’ll meet in Hobbycraft!!! I have no idea if there is a Patrick Grant promotional cardboard cut out this year. Either way he’s still much taller than me.

So, my friends, I guess that’s my report for today. I hope you’re all staying away from the madding crowd therefore staying safe. I’ll meet you all outside on our doorsteps this evening at 8pm clapping in appreciation for the NHS and various many other people who are keeping us all going safely. I hope you all have a super cosy evening doing something you truly enjoy. Until next time,

Let’s all keep on stitching and messing around with art supplies.

  1. I am, also, amazed at this time-passing thing. My stitching has resulted in more finishes than ever and, because we’re currently in our winter place (“deep south” Texas), my fabric stash is down to almost zero! Next season, I’m definitely bringing a significant portion from our “up north” place! Love your journaling/notebook doodles. Take care….hugs

    1. I am so pleased that you got so many projects finished. Having used so much of your fabric stash gives you reason to top up your winter stash. Thanks for popping in today. Stay safe and be well x

  2. Hi Lucie. I wondered when your favourite beach huts would make an appearance! Nice to see one in your journal. Loved the photo of Patrick…I thought it was Esme with him at first glance until I realised it was you! I saw the Great British Sewing Bee last night too. Some of those tea dresses made by the contestants were lovely. Take care Lucie. Keep those daily posts coming, they’re my daily tonic. Kx

    1. Hi Karen, you had me in stitches when you said you thought Esme was standing beside Patrick’s cardboard cutout!! I’m not much taller than her that’s for sure. Thanks for laugh and thank you for popping in today xx

  3. Love the beach hut & it’s given me an idea for my blogpost today for the Scavenger Hunt…..
Ooh, Patrick, even though not real, he is rather nice & glad to hear another season of the Bee is coming. We probably won’t see it till next year. My to-do lists seem to be somewhat sporadic too & late yesterday afternoon we had to have our flu shots & that threw us out a bit. It was a very strange setup to get them, but then, it’s what we must do at the moment. Enjoy the next week of your challenge, take care, stay safe & huggles.

    1. Hi Susan, I’m glad to have been able to bring you a bit of inspiration for a blogpost today. Yes the Bee is back so that’s something for you to look forward to. I’m pleased you both had your flu shots. I wish the scientists would hurry up with a vaccine for the invisible enemy so we could go about ourselves again. Thanks for popping in today x
